The pQA brings membrane inlet mass spectrometry to riverbanks, boats, mobile laboratories, and other field settings. Its rugged transportable case, 12 V operation and interchangeable inlets support quantitative measurements of dissolved gases and volatile species in groundwater and environmental samples.

Portable dissolved gas analysis for field and mobile laboratories

The pQA accepts direct, flow-through and low-volume MIMS inlets, with membrane options selected for VOCs or enhanced rare-gas sensitivity. A standard 1–200 amu mass range can be extended to 300 amu, and soft ionisation helps reduce fragmentation where simpler spectral interpretation is required.

The system can operate from 12 V DC, with other supply options available for field deployment, and is housed in a Pelican® case for transport. Sensitivity can reach 60 ppt under suitable species-specific conditions, with acquisition rates up to 650 measurements per second. Practical sensitivity depends on the inlet, membrane, sample matrix, and analyte.

The system is supplied with QGAsoft and MASsoft Professional software.

QGAsoft is an application specific software package for quantitative gas and vapour analysis providing real-time continuous analysis of up to 32 species with species concentration measured in the range 0.1 ppm to 100 %.

MASsoft Professional software allows for control of the instrument via USB 2.0, RS232 or Ethernet. Provides comprehensive I/O for data output and for reading data from external devices for integration and display with mass spectrometer data.
