Hiden Analytical will be attending Syngas Convention 5, taking place 22-26 March 2026, at the Conference Venue of the Graduate School of Business of the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa. Representing us will be Aldo Conti of AC Scientific, our South African representative, who will be on hand to discuss your catalyst and process development requirements.

Syngas Convention is an international catalysis-focused meeting hosted by the Catalysis Institute. The programme centres on advances in sustainable synthesis-gas (syngas) production and catalytic conversion, spanning themes such as hydrogen/syngas generation routes, Fischer–Tropsch and methanol synthesis, and CO₂ activation, with an emphasis on heterogeneous catalysis modelling, catalyst synthesis/characterisation, product formation/selectivity, and catalyst deactivation.

What to Expect?

  • Syngas-to-products catalysis focus: latest research on hydrogen & synthesis-gas production and downstream conversion pathways, including Fischer–Tropsch, methanol synthesis, and CO₂ activation.
  • Mechanistic + performance-driven content: sessions emphasising heterogeneous catalysis modelling, catalyst synthesis/characterisation, product formation & selectivity, and catalyst deactivation—linking fundamental insight to robust process performance.
  • High-level technical leadership: plenary and keynote contributions from international experts across catalysis and C1 chemistry.
  • Community-led science exchange: a programme built around oral and poster presentations, enabling rapid benchmarking of new catalysts, reactor concepts, and measurement/characterisation approaches.

Hiden Analytical at Syngas Convention 5:

  • Meet our representative Aldo Conti of AC Scientific, who will be onsite to discuss Hiden’s solutions for real-time gas analysis in syngas and catalysis workflows.
  • On-line reaction gas analysis for catalysis R&D: discuss how quadrupole MS enables real-time quantification of reactants, intermediates, and products during syngas conversion and catalyst screening (e.g., FT, methanol, CO₂ activation workflows).

  • Kinetics-ready data under dynamic conditions: explore fast time-response measurement strategies for step changes, transients, and temperature-programmed experiments, supporting rate/activation analysis and selectivity mapping.
  • Process insight across complex mixtures: learn approaches for resolving overlapping species, tracking trace by-products, and applying calibration/quantification methods suitable for multi-component syngas streams.
  • Integrated reactor–analytics concepts: discuss MS integration with laboratory reactors/microreactors and associated thermal/process rigs to connect catalyst operating conditions directly to evolving gas-phase chemistry.

📅 Event Dates: 22-26 March, 2026.
