Hiden Analytical will be exhibiting at HiPIMS 2026 taking place 15-18 June at Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield, UK. Representing us will be Colin Robertson, who will be onsite to showcase how Hiden’s instrumentation supports surface engineering.

HiPIMS 2026 combines short tutorial courses with the main technical programme and a panel discussion on surface engineering focused on opportunities in advanced manufacturing. Both a fundamental plasma/discharge-science platform and an industrialization/technology-transfer forum, HiPIMS 2026‘s technical scope spans HiPIMS plasma generation, plasma diagnostics/discharge physics/modelling, reactive and non-reactive processes, coating growth and performance, and systems/hardware, alongside adjacent plasma and non-plasma surface engineering routes.

What to Expect?

  • A tightly focused HiPIMS/surface engineering community structured to support both deep technical exchange and industry-facing conversations.
  • Two days of short tutorial courses (15-16 June) ahead of the main technical programme (17–18 June), useful for aligning fundamentals (discharge physics, process control) with application-driven coating requirements.
  • A programme spanning HiPIMS plasma generation, plasma diagnostics/discharge physics/modelling, reactive and non-reactive processes, coating growth/performance, and systems/hardware, plus adjacent plasma and non-plasma surface engineering routes.
  • A forward-looking “Quo Vadis Surface Engineering?” panel framed around surface engineering in the digital age / transformative opportunities, which is a strong signal for roadmap discussions (digitalisation, data integration, scale-up).

Hiden Analytical at HiPIMS 2026:

  • Meet Colin Robertson to discuss measurement-led process optimisation for HiPIMS and related plasma surface engineering, bridging fundamental plasma behaviour with manufacturing-relevant KPIs (stability, repeatability, yield).
  • Explore how in-situ/at-line diagnostics can strengthen development workflows across the conference’s core themes, particularly plasma diagnostics, discharge physics/modelling, and reactive HiPIMS where closed-loop control and contamination management are pivotal.
  • Discuss practical strategies to improve reactive process robustness (e.g., handling hysteresis, transitions, and drift) with measurement frameworks that support parameter windows, fault detection, and recipe transfer from R&D to production.
  • Connect on systems-level integration: data capture, synchronisation with pulsed power/plasma sources, and instrument interoperability, aligned with the event’s emphasis on HiPIMS systems/hardware and the broader “digital age” surface engineering direction.
