Hiden Analytical will be attending the EPS Plasma Physics Conference taking place 29 June – 3 July 2026 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) in Edinburgh, UK. Representing us will be Mike Thomas, who will be onsite to showcase how Hiden’s instrumentation supports plasma physics research.

The EPS Plasma Physics Conference 2026 (EPS26) is the 52nd edition of the European Physical Society’s flagship plasma meeting. Themes span from fundamental, space and astrophysical plasmas through low-temperature plasmas, beam–plasma and inertial-fusion physics, and magnetic confinement fusion, with plenary/invited talks, posters, and networking built around current challenges in plasma control, diagnostics, modelling, materials–plasma interactions, and scale-up for fusion energy and industrial plasma processes.

What to Expect?

  • Four core scientific tracks spanning Magnetic Confinement Fusion, Beam Plasma & Inertial Fusion, Low Temperature Plasmas, and Basic/Space/Astrophysical Plasmas, supporting cross-fertilisation between fusion, industrial plasmas, and fundamental plasma science.
  • A week of high-impact plenary and invited presentations, plus posters, enabling rapid scanning of new results, methods, and experimental/ modelling approaches across the field.
  • A strong focus on the practical realities of plasma research: diagnostics, control, impurities, plasma–surface interaction, sources, and transient phenomena, reflected in the conference’s topic structure and abstract guidance.
  • Networking and community programming alongside the technical sessions, supporting collaboration between labs, facilities, and industrial partners.

Hiden Analytical at EPS Plasma Physics Conference 2026

  • Meet Mike Thomas to discuss mass spectrometry and gas analysis for plasma environments, including measurement strategies for low-pressure/vacuum systems, reactive species, and background-limited detection.
  • Explore approaches for time-resolved plasma and process monitoring, capturing transient events (e.g., pulsed plasmas / fast process changes) where stable sampling and quantitative interpretation are essential.
  • Talk through impurity and outgassing workflows relevant to fusion and advanced plasma experiments: from identifying dominant species to supporting mitigation strategies and method validation.
  • Compare solutions for plasma–surface interaction studies and thin-film/process plasmas, where correlating gas-phase chemistry with surface outcomes can tighten process control and accelerate development cycles.
  • Application-led guidance, how to configure an instrument/sampling interface, calibrate for your matrix, and turn spectra into decisions you can trust for research or facility operations.
