Hiden Analytical will be attending the 77th International Society of Electrochemistry Annual Meeting, taking place from 6-11 September 2026 at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC), Sydney, Australia.

The International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) is a non-profit, worldwide scientific society founded in 1949 to advance electrochemical science and technology, disseminate knowledge and promote international cooperation. ISE’s flagship event, the 77th Annual Meeting, will be held under the theme “Electrochemistry for the New World”.

What to Expect?

  • Plenary lectures, symposia, and tutorials, designed to bring together researchers working across core and emerging areas of electrochemistry.

  • Core scientific themes you’ll see throughout the week: electroanalytical chemistry, electrocatalysis, batteries, fuel cells, corrosion, single-entity electrochemistry, scanning probe electrochemical microscopy, hydrogen generation, ammonia synthesis, photoelectrocatalysis, ionic liquids, solar cells, microbial electrochemical systems, point-of-care/medical electrochemistry, devices/manufacturing, and wearables.

  • Symposia at a glance (16 total): expect parallel sessions covering everything from fundamentals to applied systems, examples include ‘aqueous-based batteries and high-power devices’, ‘novel materials for lithium and beyond lithium batteries’ and ‘model electrodes to study nanoscale phenomena in electrocatalysis’.

  • Plenary talks: the meeting brochure lists Maria Forsyth (Deakin University, Australia), Shana Kelley (Northwestern University, USA), Yi-Tao Long (Nanjing University, China), Beatriz Roldán Cuenya (Fritz Haber Institute, Germany), and Jan Rossmeisl (University of Copenhagen, Denmark).

Hiden Analytical at the 77th International Society of Electrochemistry Annual Meeting:

Many International Society of Electrochemistry themes focus on what’s happening at the electrode—and for gas/volatile pathways, that often means connecting electrochemistry directly to mass spectrometry for real-time, species-resolved insight.

  • What we’ll be talking about: DEMS (Differential Electrochemical Mass Spectrometry), in situ, real-time tracking of gaseous/volatile reactants, intermediates, and products during electrochemical experiments, and OEMS (On-line/operando evolved gas analysis for electrochemistry), continuous analysis of evolved gases/vapours as a function of applied potential on the real-time scale.

  • How this maps to the programme: power-to-X, electrocatalyst stability, and mechanism work (e.g., degradation, intermediates, selectivity), hydrogen production/utilisation and ammonia synthesis (gas products where time resolution matters), and battery and high-power device research (gassing, parasitic reactions, safety-related pathways).

📅 Event Dates: 6-11 September, 2026.
