Hiden Analytical will be attending the 30th Biennial ORCS Meeting, taking place from 12-16 April 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country in Santa Rosa, CA. Representing us will be Gerard Duffy and David Lundie, who will be onsite to discuss your catalysis needs.

The 30th Biennial ORCS Meeting is the 2026 flagship conference of the Organic Reactions Catalysis Society, bringing together industrial and academic catalysis teams focused on reaction development and scale-relevant organic synthesis. The programme centres on catalyst/process design with emphasis on base-metal catalytic processes, homogeneous and enzymatic catalysis, electrocatalysis and emerging catalytic technologies, biomass catalytic processing, flow reactors, and computational modelling including machine learning/AI—framed around applications spanning pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals.

What to Expect?

  • A focused catalysis community meeting hosted by the Organic Reactions Catalysis Society, bringing together industrial and academic teams working at the interface of catalyst innovation and reaction/process development.

  • Five-day programme structured around technical presentations and discussion relevant to scalable organic synthesis and catalysis R&D.
  • Topic coverage spanning catalyst design/synthesis and application areas such as pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals, plus method/technology themes including flow chemistry/reactors, biomass conversion, homogeneous catalysis, enzymatic catalysis, electrocatalysis, and computational/ML-enabled catalysis.
  • Strong student and early-career participation via a dedicated student poster session/competition (prizes advertised up to ~$1,000, with additional posted prize breakdowns in meeting materials), plus travel-grant messaging via partner announcements.
  • A sponsor/exhibitor component (with published exhibitor information packages) alongside organised social/networking activities, including an outing to Muir Woods National Monument and a Napa Valley wine/food event—useful for informal technical exchange and partner conversations.

Hiden Analytical at the 30th Biennial ORCS Meeting:

  • A highly relevant audience for quadrupole MS workflows used in catalyst development and characterisation, particularly where teams need time-resolved quantification of multi-species reaction products, by-products, and trace impurities.

  • Meet Gerard Duffy and David Lundie to discuss real-time gas analysis approaches for catalysis and reaction engineering—e.g., bench-top MS configurations aimed at high sensitivity/fast response measurement of evolved gases and vapours in R&D environments.
  • Conversations around integrating MS with micro-reactors and automated test platforms for catalyst screening, kinetic studies, and method development—supporting more consistent throughput and more actionable datasets from each run.
  • Technical alignment with ORCS themes like flow/continuous processing and electrocatalysis, where MS can provide rapid speciation to connect operating conditions to reaction outcomes (selectivity, conversion, transient intermediates).
  • For teams working under vacuum or controlled atmospheres, a chance to cover residual gas analysis needs—vacuum quality checks, leak/outgassing monitoring, and background control—supporting more reliable catalytic testing and surface/processing experiments.
