Hiden Analytical will be attending the 249th ECS Meeting, taking place from 24-28 May 2026 at the Seattle Convention Center, Booth 405, in Seattle, Washington, USA. Representing us will be Gerard Duffy and Jim McMillan of Hiden Inc, who will be on site to assist with your electrochemistry needs.
The 249th ECS Meeting brings together international researchers across electrochemistry and solid-state science for five days of technical symposia, presentations, and networking focused on translating fundamental interfacial, materials, and device science into deployable, sustainability-driven technologies. Anchored by the “Sustainable Technologies” theme, the meeting spans core areas including batteries and energy storage, electrocatalysis and fuel cells, corrosion and passivation, sensors/bioelectrochemistry, and emerging low-dimensional and functional materials, providing a cross-disciplinary forum to share new mechanisms, methods, and performance advances for cleaner energy conversion, resource-efficient materials, and climate-relevant electrochemical systems
What to Expect?
- Sustainability-focused research program: Technical sessions aligned to the meeting theme Sustainable Technologies, spanning electrochemistry and solid-state science for decarbonization, resource efficiency, and climate-relevant materials/processes.
- Multi-format technical exchange: A dense schedule of oral presentations, poster sessions, panel discussions, tutorials, and an exhibition, supporting both deep-dive specialist tracks and cross-disciplinary networking.
- Cross-sector attendance: Strong mix of academic, industry, and government researchers, useful for benchmarking methods, performance metrics, and translational readiness of emerging electrochemical technologies.
Hiden Analytical at the 249th ECS Meeting
- Quadrupole MS for electrochemical gas analytics: Demonstrating compact, high-sensitivity quadrupole mass spectrometry solutions to quantify key reaction products/by-products (e.g., H₂, O₂, CO₂, CO, light hydrocarbons) and diagnose selectivity, efficiency, and degradation mechanisms in electrochemical systems.
- DEMS for time-resolved reaction dynamics: Bringing expertise in Differential Electrochemical Mass Spectrometry (DEMS) to capture transient gas evolution during CV/CA/CP protocols, supporting mechanistic interpretation of catalyst activity, stability, and crossover phenomena.
- Membrane-inlet approaches for dissolved species workflows: Showcasing membrane-inlet sampling concepts for fast, low-dead-volume transfer of dissolved gases/volatiles from liquid electrolytes into the analyser, useful for correlating electrochemical performance with real-time speciation.
- Operando-ready integration with lab setups: Highlighting practical integration pathways with electrochemical cells and test stands (flow cells, headspace sampling, capillary/leak-valve interfaces), with a focus on stable baselines, controlled sampling, and repeatable quantification in realistic operating conditions.
- Data confidence and interpretation: Presenting software-enabled acquisition/analysis workflows for multi-species monitoring, calibration/quantitation, and kinetic trend extraction, turning raw MS signals into interpretable electrochemical insights for R&D decision-making and faster screening.
